MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Chamber Members:

I bring to you my last President’s Message for this 2007 term with mixed emotions. I am excited to turn over the Presidential reigns to incoming President Sean Schuur, Sure Mortgage Solutions, who will bring fresh, new ideas to our chamber and its members. I am saddened only for the fact that I still have unfinished business that I had hoped to accomplish in 2007 (fortunately, we have strong continuity with our incoming 2008 board . . . and what was started in 2007 will be accomplished in 2008). Finally, I feel a sense of relief that I made it through the year in one piece and the chamber membership still intact. In fact, in times of a slowing economy (which challenges most small businesses) this Chamber has continued to grow its membership by 20% . . . thanks to all of you for your continued support!

Taking care of business . . .

we wind down the year with two very enjoyable events that took place in November. The Holiday Craft & Gift Boutique at the Edwards Barn was a great success and it continues to build momentum every year. We had over 40 craft and gift vendors at the event, most of whom were already existing chamber members with home-based businesses. It was also an excellent opportunity to recruit additional membership as those non-members expressed great interest in joining the Nipomo Chamber. And speaking of winding down the year . . . the “Wine-Down” Membership Mixer held at Cypress Ridge Pavilion was a great way to capture the year. The combination of the beautiful venue, the delicious hors d’oeuvres, and the camaraderie amongst old friends and new made for a perfect evening.
It has truly been a pleasure serving as your Chamber President. I proudly join an elite group of business individuals and citizens who have served as President for the Nipomo Chamber of Commerce and have a mutual respect for their contributions to the organization. The experience of serving on the Nipomo Chamber Board for many years and taking on the Presidency this past year has had many rewards. The business contacts I gained over the years have been phenomenal. More importantly, I met so many nice people through the chamber, which have developed into great friendships that I will cherish for years to come.

In closing, I would like to extend my gratitude to the board for their support, dedication and commitment in helping achieve my goals for the Chamber . . . “Taking Care of Business in 2007”. I would also like to thank the Ambassadors, under the leadership of Ambassador Chairman Sean Schuur, for re-energizing the membership. And finally, thank you to our Executive Secretary, Val Hunt, for her patience and willingness to learn under my term.

I wish you and your families a safe and prosperous new year!!! And we look forward to seeing you all in 2008.
